Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Jazmine, who is Philadelphia native, was born and raised in the city. Her mother Pam is a former vocalist for the backup band of Philadelphia International Records. When she was five her father was selected as City's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. Their family eventually moved into this historic building. As a 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduate who is majoring in singing. Sullivan played the contralto singer for the children's choir . Later just a few years later she joined in the adults ' choir. Sullivan was not exposed secular music until he was a teenager. "I began singing in solos in church, and somebody wanted me to sign up to gospel records when I was eleven. But I wasn't prepared for it," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition for children in major cities. After that, I was given an opportunity to sing The Grace God Gives me on Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely supportive." At the age 13 she performed in a duet with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan At the age of 15, was first signed to Jive Records. There, she recorded an entire album. However, it was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. They maintained a friendship with Missy Elliott she produced some of the songs in her debut album such as the brash single "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
